Controversy exists in Chile after it was proposed to build a special prison for prisoners of indigenous peoples, which has unleashed the country's political reaction. The idea arose on September 9 when the pro-government deputies Leonardo Soto, Lorena Pizarro, and Gonzalo Winter had lunch with the Chilean Minister of Justice, Marcela Ríos, and with the undersecretary of the same portfolio, Jaime Gajardo. At the meeting, they discussed the prison benefits for Mapuche community members, which led to the proposal of the prison issue.
