Chilean utility Engie Energia Chile SA said on Wednesday it had obtained a permit to start commercial operation of its 87.9-MW Capricornio solar farm. The plant is located some 35 kilometres (21.7 miles) from the city of Antofagasta. The utility installed around 249,210 solar panels and smart trackers for this project, which will enable Capricornio to produce enough electricity to power some 36,000 households in northern Chile.
