Officials have partially closed La Araucania International Airport (ZCO) in Freire Dec. 30, following a malfunction of a Chilean military aircraft. The airport is the busiest in southern Chile, and it mainly serves the city of Temuco. The incident has suspended all national flights at the facility. Authorities estimate operations are likely to resume at around 11:00. Lingering disruptions are likely after the airport reopens as authorities attempt to clear passenger backlogs.
