A massive plume of smoke was seen rising out of Chile’s Villarrica volcano as national geologists reported an “emission of pyroclastic material.” The volcanic activity is also said to have triggered an earthquake. The current risk to nearby communities is unknown but this volcano is considered by experts to be a “very high” risk due to notable historic eruptions and its proximity to homes.
