Independent power producer (IPP) Atlas Renewable Energy discussed its large-scale BESS projects in Chile, where gigawatts of projects are expected to come online in the next few years. The company has three large-scale operational solar PV plants in Chile and is adding battery energy storage system (BESS) technology to at least one, with a 200MW/800MWh project underway at its 244MWp Sol del Desierto plant in Antofagasta, northern Chile.
