Three agents killed and set on fire in the south, Boric declares national mourning

 

Three Chilean police officers were killed and later set on fire in an attack last night in Canete, in the southern province of Arauco, an episode that prompted the president Gabriel Boric to proclaim national mourning and suspend their agenda to go there immediately. The authorities confirmed the news this morning with a statement from the "Carabineros": the victims - Carlos Cisterna Navarro, Sergio Arevalo Lobos e Misael Vidal Cid – were patrolling the area when they were involved in a shootout with assailants whose identity is currently unknown, who after killing the officers set fire to their vehicle with the bodies inside. The discovery was made by the firefighters, who arrived on site after receiving reports of a car on fire.
